I was looking on eBay today and noticed a 2010-S Proof Lincoln Cent, certified by NGC with a grade of PR70UCAM. There was a VERY small description of the coin and it was being sold for 300 bucks! So if you wanted one of these coins, would you wait for the price to die down or would you buy it then and there? NOTE: This is not a contest.

I would never buy it for anywhere close to that price. But, if someone did it would be okay with me since it was there money instead of mine. I'm sure we have all bought a coin or two that many others wouldn't for the price we paid.

The big problem is buying that coin you really wanted at a premium then end up unhappy with it. A lot of new collectors make this mistake, buying that just got to have coin.

No and I will not even wait for the price to cool down. I will not buy a 70 until they come down to <~$30.

    I know - Don't hold my breath.

Where does one pick up proof cents, or any other proof coin for that matter?

wow,,,,,again in perspective thats a MS-66 Morgan with about $$50 left over...never worth it (unless there is a rediculously low pop. report on it)

Or better yet just buy one set and keep sending it back until you get it graded PR-70

I would guess that with any new issue that there would be a lag time between the time the coin comes out and the time the population reports would even start to mean something about rarity.

That's a big no thanks for me as well.

Man if you bought that coin plus those two ms66RD 2010 Lincolns that just sold you'd pay more than for an ounce of gold.

I didn't vote because you didn't give us enough options. I would have opted for "I wouldn't buy it at any price!"

I'd probably have a very good chance of getting one from the Mint.
