woohooo! Thanks Krispy :) I thought the edge looked thick, any idea on how the PMD happened?

I wish I knew what caused this damage. Maybe it was shimmed against something. Sort of looks like it took quite a lot of force to do this, but that it only clipped this side of the coin. The reverse of the damage area only has minimal marks that are probably related to the impact. There is also that funny dimple inside the damage area on the copper core that intrigued me. Let us know once you get the coin in hand if you can figure out the cause of damage.

Also, this is the 1976-P Variety 2 reverse.

Thanks to everyone who stuck with the contest the last few days.

I was really surprised that my photos were puzzling enough in scale to make some people determined to guess this was a dime, when in fact it was a big honkin' Ike dollar! :D

We had a lot of close Ike-guesses too. I thought Zach and Matt (LD) were going to nail it on their first round!

The following Ike dates and mintmarks were guessed before conpewter ID'd it for the win:

    71 P/D
    72 P/D
    73 P/D
    74 P/D
    77 P/D/S
    78 D

Thanks again everyone who played along... Cheers! :b8nce:
