I have had an 11 week wait with PCGS Currency - Sure I slow boated them but it became rediculous, they were at shows ,then holidays , & then when my co. went on vacation I put a 5 day ship hold on my notes & they did nothing with them in that week & that was the 10th week they had them . I WILL NOT use PCGS currency again. I never have had a problem with PMG & their stated times. Personally I dont think they have enough man power to handle the submissions since they broke off from the main company.
Now, only dealers can make an appointment to deliver submissions to the NGC office. I was lucky to be able to deliver submissions as a collector several years ago because I got to see the artifacts from the SS Republic when they were being conserved. The ship's bell with USS Tennessee on it was really cool! I think this may have been part of the reason why they changed their policy because I was also there when the "suits" were taking delivery of all of the gold from the SS Republic. It's not often that you get to see $50 million in gold stacked on the floor as they were checking to make sure it was all there. Chris
I know and they are holding up some pretty hefty notes of mine right now. Had I known what I know now, they would have went to PMG without question. Just checked again, not graded yet. Sent on June 20th. they got them (checked in on) July 1st? Not real happy with PCGS as you might guess. Not talking about a 200 dollar note here. We'll see, nothing I can do but wait and they know it at this point..
WoW ! That really is worrisome, for sure. 11 weeks to certify a bill seems like a long time, especially since it hasn't been done yet. I mean, it could possibly be another 11-12 weeks even. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but at my age I want things done NOW ! I mean, I may not be around in 3 months ? Could it be that because of the economy, more people want to have their things certified so they can sell them ? Possibly more people need to list items on eBay and know that certified items realize a greater sale price ? It would be interesting to know if it is all the TPG's and if it is due to increased demand ? Maybe we can time items sent recently against items sent last year and get some idea as to what's happening ? I know small samples wouldn't be decisive, but they might be an indicator ? gary
Not a coin but i have had many with paper currency, I did have to wait over 6 months!! But that was a free submission....LOL
Well, If I wasn't getting paid, I would get that out of my way first ! That way I could start making my money. But I always tried to get the worst part of my work over with at the onset just so I wouldn't have to fret about doing it. But, somehow, I don't think that's the case with TPGs.
