Longest wait for graded coins?

I know there's a number of collectors on this forum who have many experiences having coins graded. I've also read that some of y'all have experiences with a couple of different grading companies. I know sometimes it takes awhile to get your coins back so I've been wondering.

How long is the longest you have ever had to wait to receive your coins back? What company, in your opinion takes the longest turn around time? Is their a company who you absolutely will not do business with because they simply take way too long to deliver? Anyone have any comments?

It's not like any of them sit around on their butts all day long playing Texas Hold 'Em. There is no way that they can dial up their crystal ball to determine how many submissions they will have at any given moment in time. I've always received my submissions within a reasonable period of time. If a submission is supposed to have a 12-day (business days) turnaround, I'll usually get it back about 3 weeks from the day it was sent. If it supposed to be a 21-day turnaround, I'll usually get it back in 5-6 weeks. Of course, you also have to factor in the time the Post Office takes because they are sitting on their duffs playing Old Maid waiting for their retirement. I've used ANACS, NGC & PCGS, and I have no complaints against any of them.

Some people can never be satisfied. They will always edited & moan. Some of them act like they are the sole supporter of that particular service and should be treated like royalty. Some people believe in the adage, "A squeaky wheel gets the grease." but when was the last time you saw a Conestoga wagon on the freeway?

about 2-3 hours. what i do now is to see them in Coin Show and graded it there.

So Far so good this is One of the Best.

 

I have some bills out at PCGS right now that have been gone for 7 weeks.. Last check was still not graded.. Last time I ever send anything in economy..

 

That' s fine if they're worth a few thousand or more. Anything under that is a waste of money.

Yeah, that sounds like the ticket but I would think you pay for faster service as well. Do you know how much of a price difference there is normally?

I would agree with Chris. I have found both PGCS and NGC meeting their time frame unless there one of big coin (FUN, ANA, etc.) shows going on at the same time that I submit but even that not a major addtional time. I send by Register mail insured that adds addtional time.

 

Fortunately for me, I'm only 90 miles from NGC, so Registered Mail only takes a day-and-a-half.

I have waited upwards of 3 months before for NGC submissions before but the turn around time that was posted was something like 40 or 50 business days and this was years ago so I probably got them around when they estimated. Most of the time I get them when I should from both PCGS and ngc depending on the tier so I really don't have any complaints with either service. I would say probably 98% of the coins I submit go to NGC just becuase I like their customer service better and I like the way toned coins look in the white holders.

got 2 coins to ngc and 2coins to pcgs now....sen them 2 sat. ago...guy said it would be around 6-8 weeks (but closer to 6 weeks) and after that 2 month wait I get to pay about 30$ per coin yay

 

I think you will pay for the grading before they do the grading.

I recon' none of ya'll know about our strong will. Insult a Texan and consider yourself sitting on a saddled horse with a burr under the horse blanket. It doesn't boad well for the rider. And, we'll Hold'em on the horse until we feel ready to be nice! haha

 

"pay for the grading before they do the grading" whats that supposed to mean....although its a local store and they said to pay after the coins come in (common practice?)

 

We send paper in at work on occasion when they run a special but you better not be in a hurry.
I've had notes out for at least 3 months but I didn't really care.

The cheaper the rate the higher the volume and the cheap ones don't get looked at first.

 

Sorry, you did not indicated you were going though someone else.
If you are the individual that send the coins in for grading, they will charge your card before they begin the grading progress. You could in some cases, have the charge on your card six weeks or more, before you received your coins back.
