The Silver Rupees I have don't seem to have the luster the US Coins do. I do not know if that is because of the additional metal composition or something in the minting process itself. Also the detail on the Crown and medals is weakly striken. The minting process seems not as precise as that of Canada, Europe and the US. I think this is MS63 ? I don't think the coin was ever in circulation.

grandpa youa re confused i have never looked at that coin in my life. i have also never bought it raw or sent it to ngc myself. i just bought it a few hours before i posted it. i should get a gold coin from you just for thinking it was one of my older coins. :D

thats why we love you you are so cute when you make these little speeches :)

but surely youa dmit you are better than both ngc and pcgs combined dont you?

ok now GD we will work towards part 2 of your conversion that the TPG are done and dusted with :D

i now submit to you toning is the firt step towards corrosion if left unchecked and in so coins with toning should be discounted and not sold at a premium.

now many will jump at this and cal it sacrilege and i understand that but everywhere in the antique business any form of decay does not bring you premium. i am not trying to stir a hornets nest here just trying to make grandpa see the light

he scoffed at me when i told him that ngc and pcgs were going through a decline

he scoffed at me when i told him he could grade better than both of them ( and GD you would be daft to think i would not consult you before buying coins only a fool would not and take a TPG word instead but at an average of about 3k per coin they were about 500 -1000 not forty eleven thousand besides there is no such thing dont be greenoculous :D)

being stuck in the western world for the last 2k years has made him see things from a certain prism
but then i am spock and for better or worse he has the job of being my guardian angel

i am just trying to get him to see a different world :D

Better ? No, not at all. I just use different standards than they do. PCGS, which is the only TPG there is that has a published standard, doesn't even follow their own written standard anymore.

We will never agree on this. Yes, toning can progress to the point that it will eventually be corrosion. But since it is a rather simple matter to slow the progress of toning down to the point that it is all but stopped it is a moot point.

As for premiums - some toned coins are absolutely worth premiums, others are not. And spock, this is undeniable. You know why ? Because every single coin there is in existence is toned to some degree unless it was just dipped 10 seconds ago - or freshly minted.

So you are the one who needs to see the light. Nothing has changed ;)

As many have said, my grade would be 58. I suspect NGC said 65 or 66.

it has been well documented through hundreds of scores of dollars that you are better than both combined. there is no need to be modest for the one quality you do have :)
