Well, some new notable coins have been delivered today, so I thought I'd share. I've developed a new facination with Gold Indian quarter eagles or half eagles. Both are slabbed, The 1910 is ANACS AU 55. The 1915 is an NGC MS 62.

Well, these are the only ones I could afford. I like the reverse design but it would have been even neater if the art was guininely reverse rather than sort of embedded.

I don't have this one slabbed but I think it might get a decent grade.Do you think I should submit it?.I also love these but can't afford the $5.

I bet it fetches a nice grade. Personally, I'm getting sick of slabs. I like to touch the coins.

I would think that slabbing just about any gold coin would immediately increase the value by more than the cost of the TPG. The unslabbed coins seem to sell at a discount, possibly due to the fear of counterfeits and cleaning.

With Gold prices soaring is this a good time to buy indian head gold coins?

For collecting? No. For investing? Probably. But I could be wrong. If gold is at a high point, then for a collector its not a good time because the metal is inflating the price. But if you want to invest and think there is a greater upside in the gold market, then this is a good time to buy.

    Old thread

They were soaring last year, but have dropped and seem to be leveling off. Hard to tell what the gold market will do long term, but gold has increased a lot in the last several years, and may continue to climb at a slower pace. Buy because you like them, not as a sure thing investment.

2005 would have been a great time to buy these! Gold was at $485 end of year.

So I take it they were not stolen by manipulation of the law?
