Found this going through some of my wheats today. Looks to either be a Double Die Reverse or I guess its possible it was a severe Mechanical Doubling, although it doesnt appear to have the normal shelf like appearance Im used to seeing. Let me know what you think: Thanks! :thumb:
Machine doubling. The best place to look for a doubled die on wheat cents is on the dot in the EPU: http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/1936P-1DR-coop-01.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/1957P_1DR_coop_01.jpg http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/1946S-1DR-coop-01.jpg
I thought so too at first but the "U" of Pluribus convinced me it wasnt die deterioration. It would appear as more of a smushed edge instead of clearly in the middle of the "U" right?
here is an example of machine doubling on a wheat cent. Check the last image to see how it corresponds to your coin. http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/Wheat_Cent_Machine_Doubling_01.jpg
Oh, I just found another DDR on a wheat cent which shows the doubling on the Dot in the EPU: http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/coop49/1937P_1DR_COOP_001a.jpg
Nice pic man-> just when you thought you had something nice the experts burst your bubble every time , never fail!
haha, at least now I have another example to add to my collection to compare with other coins. I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks fellas!
