I just searched a new box today and besides the usual 10 or so wheats ( oldest was a 1937 P ) and one or two 1960 D Sm Dates I found this 1951 D.

A 1972 S was the only S mint mark I found in today's box, looks like a Repunched Mint Mark.

Congrats Gypsy....that is one monster box!!

My Half searching is still pretty stagnant. Weekend report:
$430 in CWR - Skunk! (in my last approx $1100 in CWR, I've found 2 40%ers)
    Box 1: Skunk
    Box 2: 4 40%ers.

Received a silver quarter in pocket change the other day!

I am frustrated with my state quarter folder. I am still missing Vermont-D and Missouri-D. I don't want to buy them on ebay, but I may just so I can be finished. I'm impatient.

I found a good place to obtain P series state quarters. [Still have quite a few missing.] There is a state moment in which you take an elevator to the top. Visitors then put quarters in the binoculars to see the sites. Quarters get 'recycled' in the dollar bill changer. The bounty is mine!

I should get back to the monument to try and find the missing quarters.

I don't know about cents and can't get into them. I was given a bunch of older rolls a few weeks back from a guy at work. I now have 100's of 'S' mint coins (68-70) and probably others too. I thought I would be ambitious and look through them for the small date or other things but I just can't do it.

Some of the coins are very nice. Do you guys keep all the 's' mint coins for some reason? I was thinking of just tossing them back in circulation.

Noooooo! Don't throw them back into circulation. Sell them on eBay since you don't want to keep them. If you don't want to be hassled with eBay, find a friend willing to post the cents and pay them a small percentage of sales.

Well I just looked at what I have. There are 45-50 rolls of 'S' mint cents. The majority appear to be 68, 69 and 70 but there are definitely others. In addition, I have a jar of cents that go from 70-82 and another bag of cents that are pre-1970 but are not wheaties. The wheaties are in yet another bag. I remember looking through them before and the earliest is a 1910. Reading this thread had originally peaked my interest and I was buying rolls of cents when I would pick up my halves, but like I said, I just can't get into them.

There is no way that I'm spending the time to put these things on ebay, unless I just sold everything together.

Personally, I never put any pre 1982 cents back into circulation. Reason being is the copper value alone is more than 2 cents. I can ALWAYS get 1c for one, but just cannot imagine not keeping something that is worth 2x + for what you paid for it. We keep the Silver for it's melt value over face. Well, I keep copper for the same reason. Also everything I have read advises me that copper will increase in value over time.

Just my opinion on copper cents.

Found a 62 D dime, out of $250...nothing else, and the bank didn't have ANY boxes of cents =[

thinking about dumping and getting another box and looking for cents, or dumping and ordering a box from wachovia for tomorrow...hmm

Have a kid go through them for you. Give them the cents dated over 1982 for their trouble. Have the kid sort by decade (60s, 70s, etc) And, like I said before, ask if someone wants to do the ebay thing for you. Give them a percentage. You'll only have to be involved twice. Take the cents to the kids house so he/she has time to start and stop. Then give sorted cents to person to ebay. They can ebay the in sets of 60s, 70s, etc. Or, you can then sell the whole lot - one shot (but you'll have to give a ballpark list the types of coins and date ranges. You don't want a negative report to come back on you). Or, call Heritage Auctions to see if they are interested in selling the lot for you.

If you do sell on ebay, take a look at some of the postings on how to word your listing to sell lots.

    Good Luck!

I'm a little sick myself. I'm lucky to get 1-40% per box.

Many of them are already rolled by year and a bunch are just mixed 'S' mint dates. I'd rather just find someone who enjoys cents and trade for something...
