Folks, Any ideas on what this is? I can read the Chinese Characters "Yasu" and "Michi" but those are some Japanese readings.
The Chinese reading of the inscription is kang xi tong bao. The coin is a modern reproduction of a Chinese cash coin from the reign of Emperor Sheng Zu (1662-1722) of the Qing (Ch'ing) Dynasty. An authentic kang xi tong bao may be seen here. All coins from the Kang Xi era were "cast". Your coin is "struck". China did not produce machine-made cash coins until about the year 1890. Gary
