1952D Lincoln Wheat, Machine doubling or Die Deterioration?

    Im trying to learn how to tell the difference between the two, Im guessing MDD?

    And whats up with his lip area? PMD?

    Definitely PMD on the lip. Not seeing any doubling though. If you're referring to the inside tip of the nine, that's just more PMD.

    If that is doubled, it is MDD and that mark on the face is definitely PMD.

    Maybe someone will come and correct me, but a doubled die has got to be be an entire coin and significant area showing the doubling. In order for the die to be doubled, the master has got to either shift (the entire coin is doubled), pivot (should show on a minimum of half the coin), or some combination thereof. Regardless, it cannot be only one point with doubling unless it is MDD.

    Yeah, I know its not a double die, just trying to figure out if it was MDD or Die Deterioration. Thanks!
