The thrill is in the hunt.

But it's exhilirating to find a good one for sure. Every time I have gotten lucky, I have spent hours looking at it double checking enlarging scans on my computer. It is a fantastic hobby in nearly every aspect. IMHO

This is the 1984 Double Ear Lincoln Cent, worth about $175 in that grade.

But they are wrong. Look at the copy of the photo you posted and the colored outlines. It should be easy to see that the green ( false earlobe) one has a much sharper curvature ( arc). A true doubling, the curve and arc would be the same except for some of the rarer types of DD. You can see the curves of the 2 ear lobes in your coin are the same. To be successful with variety identification, you must be able to know when it is, and when it isn't.

Yep, but the hardest part is waiting for the attribution and grading. I check my in box every 3 minutes just to see how something comes in.

I am not sure which coin , "this" is referring to:

If you expect the coin in post #20 to come back as FS-01-1984-101 from PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG, you will be mistaken. Your original post, post #1 is the "rare" 1984 Lincoln DDO FS-01-1984-101, I confirmed it in post #5, If you are still wishing for a "triple die" ....your "triple earlobe" ..best of luck to you.

I give my best opinion, if is right, I don't Gloat about it, if it is wrong, I certainly don't feel the need to bow to anyone.

Excuse me sir, coin-crazy is asking if it's a new variety, not for it's value.

WOW! Nice coin! It sure is good to see one of these on the forum as they are quite rare. I can't even guess how many 1984's I've searched looking for one. I've basically given up hope. LOL
