1950D With an open mouth? Common? Machine doubling or just wear and tear? 1955 Looks looks like he is wearing a yamaka, Just thought it was funny. PMD? 1957D With Double D and Doubling on the date. MDD? Die Deterioration? Thanks! :thumb:
they all looked like they have been cleaned/dipped and worth about 1 cent each...that "D" in 1957 looks like its PMD
1950-D Don't see what you are talking about. 1955 That is one way of describing it. More commonly, it is called a cracked skull. They were fairly common in that era - particularly 1958. 1957-D I am pretty sure those are die chips in the "D" and "5". Out side of that, all I see is PMD.
Dont really care about value or worth, I'm trying to learn more about error type and varieties. But thanks for your post anyway.
You will learn alot from sites like this one. Im a newbie too and first thing I learnt was, ''coin collectors are mean''!!!
At first I was a bit scared when I saw all the sabor rattling. Then I decided, why care. Just use the site for learning. It really is a lot of fun! Keep the questions coming . .
Although the learning curve can be long for some varieties and errors, presenting the ones that a person suspects and has in hand is the best way to advance your knowledge. True, most of the time it isn't what a person hopes, but sometimes it is. A negative response is as good as a positive one, in that you have learned something. Being wrong is a good stimulus for learning more. Jim
