It is a cool coin! I can't wait to find an error coin -- that is other than a filled die coin. I found a filled die coin when I first got started and was so happy I had an 'error' coin!!!! Then, I found out that they are common in every denomination and every year of issue. Oh well, the high was good while it lasted! I love this hobby!

I believe it is the FS-01-1984-101 DDO. The doubling looks correct, and the marker die scratch from the vest to the "1" seems visible. Nice coin!
I only see 2 of each FWIW.

I actually think I see a 3rd ear lobe down near the nape of his neck, but I have come to believe that desertgem knows his stuff.
Can you post some more photos from different lighting angles PLEASE ?

This is one thread I'll have to keep tabs on. I'd like to know what whatever grading company you may be sending this to has to say.

If you look at the angles of what you see as the third ear lobe, it is different than the 1st and the 2nd lobes ( the latter two angles match exactly). It follows the direction/angle closer to that of the hairlines rather than the lobes. But again it is a nice 1984-001 DDO. But IMO it is not a new variety. But if in doubt send it to ANACs to authenticate.

Verrry sweet find, I see the tripling your talking about, but it will probably come back as doubled. I hope its tripled though...

It can't be tripled and be 1984P-1DO-001. The area on the neck (not in the hair) is part of the side burns/beard area. Note how the lines parallel each other? Everything looks correct for the 1984P-1DO-001 as mentioned. The area in the hair is just that, part of the hair.

Something of note is that this appears to be a very early die state. Very nice find. Still illusive to me.

Sometimes I see 2, sometimes I see 3. What about the beard? Do you 3 extension points? Or did Lincoln have a 'turkey neck?'

    Interesting.

I can definitely see two ears.

I can just about see three ears.

I can imagine seeing four ears fanned across his head.

But................since its a photo, it's difficult to tell what I am actually seeing.

Crazy thing is, people look at coins like this one and say it has an extra lobe to it but disregards mine.. I find that so funny..Maybe I need to say mine has three lobes??:rollling:
