$25.98 shipping for 2 Peace dollars

I just won 2 auctions on ebay. The seller stated 12.99 shipping each, so shipping is $25.98 for 2 Peace dollars. i am waiting to see if he sends an invoice with reduced shipping, but probably not. Paid like 5 bucks each before shipping. I've shipped chainsaws across the country for cheaper. The auction clearly states the shipping charge. Is there an option?

but seriously... you can leave feedback about very large shipping charges... especially when it arrives with a lick and stick stamp on it.

 

It is something that sellers do to save on eBay fees.

It kinda makes me angry, looking at an auction with a decent price, then a big shipping charge.

 

Wow thats crazy shipping! Although sometimes they increase the shipping so the bid looks small and its the same price you buy it anywhere ,but if you paid for good bid and it has large shipping amounts i would so try and get a refund or whats possible not to get it.

 

paying that much shipping you should expect them to be there when you wake up.

 

Best thing to do would have been to ask before bidding. At this point, if the seller doesn't discount it for you, it's already what you've agreed to pay.

 

When you hit the bid button or BIN, you are under contract so-to-speak to pay the seller for the bid amount, plus any shipping or handling costs that are clearly stated. If they state they will combine shipping if two or more items are won, this will also be stipulated.

If the seller is using Priority Mail, it is not far out of line unless both items are shipped together, then they are making out like a bandit.

I agree, it is your responsibility to read the fine print and ask questions before you bid about combining shipping cost. IMHO seller has done nothing wrong.

 

I think Captainkirk knew the shipping charges before he bid on the item. What he's asking is if there is an option, what kind of option he's talking about I'm not sure.

 

I do not believe that this is a happy message for ebay, because he is trying to cheat them out of a proper fee by
listing it cheap and shipping high, and last I heard it was not acceptable.

 

His only ethical option is to follow though as agreed upon when he placed the bid and consider it a lesson earned.

Perhaps he will be fortunate and the seller will combine shipping but the seller has no obligation to do this.

 

If they are desent Peace dollars your not really getting "ripped off"

 

So the buyer has no responsibility to read and understand what he is agreeing to when purchasing/bidding on an item? Buyer should always consider shipping fees when bidding common sense 101 of bidding on ebay.

Just like bidding on Heritage or Teletrade auctions consider the buyer fee when bidding.

 

That sucks. I hate seeing people still trying to gouge on shipping. You can rate the seller's shipping charges really bad in feedback afterward.

 

I am pretty sure it is the one I found that states specifically "NO COMBINED SHIPPING." Call eBay and see what they have to say. Aside from that, I would pay for one and withhold my second payment until i received the first.

FWIW, I cannot believe that no one has dinged him yet for excessive shipping. 127 positives and 0 negatives or neutrals.

 

Got mixed feelings on this. He is ripping ebay off but not the bidders! The bidders are or at least should be bidding with shipping in mind. THATS why they went to cheap.. Ethical? that I have the biggest issue with. He should follow the rules.. Asking for shipping discount consideration after the fact is not something that I would do.

 

Of course; there's always an option. Contact the dude and ask to combine shipping - the second should be at no additional charge. If they refuse, remember this at feedback time.

Of course, prior posters are right in saying one should work this out before bidding. They are also right in saying this seller is trying to ripoff E-Bay by saving on final value fees.

The other side of that coin is he has told me it costs him $12.99 to ship one dollar. Now I know that is BS, but by eBay rules, he can only charge for shipping, packaging, and a nominal handling fee (I think that is all that is allowed). I would be willing to be that IF his shipping charges are permissible, he is at the limit. Shipping and packaging will only double IF he ships in two separate packages. Therefore, he is breaking eBay rules if he saves money by combining shipping but does not pass that savings on to you.

 

Well then he is NOT being honest.. But the buyer bid accordingly based on what he won the coin at so the buyer is not out anything.. ON the other hand, I would still mention it when I left feedback that the seller would not combine shipping and it was excessive.. I know if I see something like that it would pause me...
