Please post your toned Peace Dollars.

I am actually contemplating doing a research article on toned Peace Dollars.

If you are interested in contributing, please let me know, and I will be sure to give due credit.

Here is one of my toners (not rainbow toning, but russet toning).

Not sure if it shows in these scans but there is light rustic toning starting around the rim on the reverse near the bottom.

I think I've only seen one or two rainbow Peace dollars in the last 10 years. Here is my contribution. They're the only two I have and they're raw. I realize that one isn't a toner, but since I only have these two, I didn't want her to feel left out.

I have only owned 2 descent toned peace dollars in the past 15 years as they are just tough to find with eye appeal. When you find them with eye appeal you usually run into sticker shock as they don't come cheap :D

Very nice, how's the reverse look?

I don't have a pic of the reverse handy, but it's almost all blast white with just a hint of the same redish toning on the extreme edge.

Really monster toned peace dollars are rare rare critters. I'm not sure if it has to do with a change in the annealing process with the peace dollar series making them less likely to tone... or the fact that these coins didn't sit around bags for years like the Morgans. But finding a really really attractively toned peace dollar is not easy to do... or cheap to do either.

They are just too hard to find nicely toned to complete the whole set.

One coin that really talked to me when I saw it.
Picked it up at a Local B&M a couple of years ago.
This thread inspired me to finally get it out and take some decent shots of it.:thumb:

I put a low bid on that one hoping nobody else was going to run with it... Did you win it?
Just because NGC calls it AT does not make it so. Personally i think it is too ugly to be at!
Besides if you were to AT a common date coin like that wouldn't you do the obverse?

I think NGC called it right on that one. Those colors definitely didn't come out of a bag or an album.

Unless you're going for an end of roll toning look.
