Any ideas, suggestions, or questions on how to proceed? My present thinking is to go to 50 and then start over. Pros? Cons? Too many? Not enough? I cannot guarantee anything, but I can try to oblige anything within reason. BTW, I have about 75 MS67's and probably 150 MS66's (hint hint) so there are going to be some in here. Quantities may be adjusted a bit, but they are not going away totally.
Dick anybody who has watched your posts over the time you have been a member here pretty well knows what you buy and what you don't buy. So if all they were trying to do was to be among the best guessers when it comes to your guess the grade posts - it would be pretty easy to do so. Too easy in fact. But for those that don't know that, it does present an interesting and fun thing to do. And it is no doubt useful to many as well when it comes to helping them learn how to grade. So in that regard you could never do too much
The first is very true - wish you had more in varying grades. Maybe we should send him some pictures of different coins in different grades. Not all of mine have been posted and I usually don't post a grade. To the second - I find it fun also.
I must be one of the few (only?) curmudgeons in here. Since the grade is already known I wasn't interested in participating. Now, if the coins are raw that's different story. Then you're trying to reach a consensus upon which you'll make further decisions (slab it, replace it, etc.) As a learning tool your posts may be of help, but I don't think anyone will be able to differentiate between MS-66 and -67 from an image. Sorry for the sour note, but since you asked I suspect you're open to all opinions.
Thanks for these threads. It has been great fun to me and a lot of others. I'll bet many have learned a great deal about grading Lincolns from images. I'm good at getting 66 and 67 right with PCGS when I send them in, but learned I stink at getting it right from images. As far as how many coins in a contest. When this started, I thought 20 or 30. With so many having a good time with this, 40 sounded cool. I would bet you are ready for a break from all the work putting this together. Anything is fine with me. For the next contest it would be great to have a central thread with links to each of the threads. I know that won't work because of the amount of time a person has to edit. Is there a trick way to keep track of all the threads as a group? Thanks again Dick.
I am storing the info on Excel. I will be able to sort it any way desired. The only problem is (with this first set) that I only recorded how far off each vote was rather that the actual vote. That is easily corrected for future sets
