I got myself an iPad in May, and let me tell you first, it is awesome. I would definitely suggest buying the CoinMobile app; AWESOME!

Congrats on the iPad. I got a Video iPod Touch for Amy a couple of years ago and she's loaded the thing. I think she has like 25 and all of the Harry Potter Audio Books, plus a few more. It's a 64GB so she just keeps loading more and more on the thing. We take it with us when we travel. We got the cable set to hook up to a TV, so it's like a tiny DVR.

I didn't just get an iPad or iPod, but I ordered a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q890. I should have it by Tuesday! It has an 18.4" screen and it has a HDMI output, so I can use PCGS on my HD TV as well. Our plans are to build a REAL home theater when we get to NJ. I want a 60" or 70" Sony XBR. We have a 52" XBR now that we love! It would be cool to grade coins on a 70" screen!

I like the app called preciousVault lite, it's a fun way to keep tack of your silver bullion and it's free =D I think the paid version let's you keep track of other metals too, but I don't have any of those yet lol

My favorite is Mystuff2 Pro. It is a collecting app in general, but can be set up for coin collecting. I spent a couple of days setting it up and transferring my excel files, but it was worth it. Syncs well with other iOS devices.
I found it more intuitive than Excel, and the sorting and filtering features are outstanding.
