Well thank you for that my friend. Although i do believe that 12 is quite young i think we should still give him at least one chance. If this contest turns out well then by all means if he wants to give away his stuff let him. I read online and these contests on here wld not count as a contract as they are not binding. And for him being a coin grader, i wld b weary for a 12 year old to grade my coins but if hes good hes good. I will probably take one of the old slabs i have from a notable TPG and crack it open and send it to him. Nothing expensive but still. If he gets the same grade as the other slab then i will trust him a little more. Young kids have surprised me before so i wldnt b too surprised. That is my opinion.

The OP has some serious issues with a new young member and or his contest on the forum and I believe by making this thread he has broken forum rules trying to express his "opinion".

    From the rules thread:
2 – Personal attacks are not permitted. All Coin Talk members, young, old and in between, will treat all other members with respect and be civil at all times. You are expected to act as responsible individuals, there will be no name calling or flame wars.

First off, I would like to apologize to coinmaster1. Then I would like to thank him for the contests. For those who need it, here are a list of the rules:

    http://www.cointalk.com/t5068/

I did not read anywhere that it is required to give a prize in the contest. You may have a contest for the sheer fun of it, without a prize. So those that were offered by coinmaster1 were generous, and nothing less. Participation is also not required. If you have a problem with the contest, you can simply choose not to play.

coinmaster1, sorry for the negative posts by me and others. You are the one who chose not to drop to our level and respond to the negative things said, and that is more mature than how some of us are acting. (12 or not.) And thanks for the contests! They are appreciated!

Regarding age of consent and contracts:

Age of consent is governed by state law, generally being 18 except in the case of necessities. This means a contract is not valid unless it is an equitable contract as determined by the courts and was made to purchase necessary living expenses. Any other contract signed by a minor is voidable upon reaching age of consent.

However, I do not think this is really relevant. Contests here are not contracts since there is no consideration to participate. Consideration is a principal aspect of contract law. An example would be that someone makes a mistake, and instead of offering $500 to the first caller into a radio station instead declares $50,000. The station is not required to pay the $50,000 since no one had to pay consideration to play. If it is a lottery and you have to pay $1 to play, then a contract is in force and you would be required. Consideration is not necessarily money, and a few courts have ruled someone's time is consideration, but most have ruled it is not, and the other decisions have been overturned.

Therefor, any "Contests" here are not valid contracts anyway, so it doesn't matter the originators age. The moderators, though, to facilitate the board, may choose a minimum age as long as they wish.

Thanks Evorlor for your comments. There are so many different personalities on a large board like this, that it would be difficult to go through a day's postings without feeling a little "bothered" by some individual or topic. Maybe there are some who don't care for my posts either, but go snort milk :)

Our intentions is to provide a safe and friendly forum for all ages, gender, etc. An age mentioned on the forum may not be correct ( I am 44 :D J/K) ,so keep that in mind. I also have seen many YNs change from the maturity challenged to outstanding persons, and I hope all of us will take pride in contributing to that.

Always remember Q. David Bowers started his coin dealing in his teens. We need more collector/dealer/authors like him, so we need to make sure they aren't dicouraged!

thank you evorlor for being kind and apologizing for others. i forgive you all if you stop making personal attacks about me, such as the parody CRAP grading service posted by Penny Guy in post #35, which kind of mocks NCAS, my service.

Nor have I made what I consider to be attacks toward you coinmaster1.

I may be a skeptic and sound harsh by being direct in my line of questioning but I spoke up with my questions to you in a direct manner.

Thank you for your replies to my doubts.

Yes, it was indeed clever and transcends a lot of feelings many have towards most TPGs outside the top 3 or 4 companies: PCGS, NGC, ANACS, ICG...

Coinmaster, I let that post go as the parody was of a TPG, yes, it was yours, but I do not consider it a personal attack on you, just maybe the company. People make comments about PCGS , NGC, etc. as well. Since you brought up the subjects of your age, your ownership of your TPG, your belief in your knowledge level, you have to accept some of the responsibility of the comments thereof. Fair is Fair. So lets try to move on without further ado.

Gem, You may lock this thread if you wish. I merely expressed my opinion, made of mention no names in general or specifically; however, it has been blown out nof proportion.

coinmaster1, it is nothing personal against you as an individual, young numimsatist, or as a member of this forum. Just my opinion concerning age of members running contests nothing more.

If it were personal against you I would have denied your request to be added to my friends list, instead of approving it as I did.
