Congratulations on a great find. Not everyone ever gets a chance to own a '13 S. I know how you feel, It's great isn't it?, my "thought I'd never own one" is in the mail to me right now.

Enjoy that '13S, and lets see some more pics.

This is also a great tale of why establishing a relationship with a dealer is a good thing. This is from someone who was never around one place long enough to do that. Without the relationship, your dealer might not have even been on the lookout for the particular coins you have been seeking and certainly wouldn't have known to call you with his find.

    That is an amazing story!

Does anyone know why the mintage was so low (40,000) on S.F. quarters that year? The 1913-S barber dime and barber half had nearly 500,000 minted. Why so few quarters minted in SF in 1913? Did their quarter press break or something?

Good for you! It's always nice when you have a dealer thinking of you.

It's great that he could rescue a key date, but it is nowhere close to a G-4. I'd say AG-3 at best, and closer in my opinion to FR-2. Rims are worn almost halfway into almost all the lettering and some of the details around the rim are gone completely.

That's an interesting question. There was a spike in world silver prices around 1907... was that still playing out in 1913?
