I always liked the Fel Temp Reparatio reverses. I love this one showing someone getting speared, and the motto roughly meaning "Happy days are here again!"

Yeah me too. It'd be cool to see that rev. on a coin, maybe on a Euro, or dime :D

Heres a nicer one of mine I got a while ago, though not as nice as others posted here (like Dougs)

That is a nice one Randy, about the best they get from Siscia. I prefer the style of more eastern mints usually, but this is a good one from that mint.

    hamman88 Spare some change, sir?

Ptolemy bronzes have always been my favorite.

Thanks. I've got a few from Siscia that are pretty beat but, but the designs were carved very well, as well as this beauty. but I know what you mean

You'd have to go to Europe, since the Romans didn't make their way to North America :)

Have you seen the Septimius Severus Denarius with the reverse 'ADVENT AUGG' it shows Septimius on horseback, hurling a spear or pilum at a British enemy on foot. Very cool reverse.

Also, randy, nice additions. The Ptolemy is very cool.... I love the style of those... the Eagle reverse.... just great. and the obverse of that Augustus looks pretty good too.

If you have a metal detector and you are in Texas, I can assure you there are about 30 well worn LRBs in the sands of Galveston ;)

Thanks. They look better in hand, and more detail came out when I wrapped em in foil.

The one I know like this is VIRTVS AVG and rare (I recall seeing one but never owned one); the common one is ADVENT AVGG and shows a soldier leading the horse rather than a battle scene.

Ah, yes I must be thinking of the VIRTVS AVG one.

randy: what does wrapping a coin in foil do?

I wrap the foil on tight and press it with my thumb to help see more detail on dark or patchy coins or ones with little detail.

I see.... that's an interesting little maneuver. Again, cool coins mate, be sure to keep us updated with any new ones.
