Here's something new and quite interesting. http://www.collectors-society.com/CoinManager/ The topic of how to keep records of our collections has been the subject of multiple threads over the years. NGC is introducing a on-line, free, inventory and valuation service for raw as well as slabbed coins. Looks like the web page is up, but not active as of this post. I'll be looking at this closely as a off site inventory location versus by Excel spreadsheets. What say you?
That sounds great! I look forward to checking this out. I have great programs to manage my music, movie & book collections, but have yet to find a good one for coins. I hope this one works well for raw coins.
I've been looking forward to something like this for quite a while. It will be a great place for the Collectors Society members to log everything, including raw coins. Now, I wonder if I will be able to log all of my French medals in it, too! Chris
Heritage has offered this for at least 10 years now, and you can see values from at least 4 different sources at the same time. Coin World has done it for nearly that long.
Doug, Have you ever tried to use the Heritage My Collection Feature? Granted, the last update made it much better, but it is still not very user friendly IMO. I expect the new NGC collection manager to be much easier to use and that it be tied to both the NGC and PCGS certification # databases the same way that the NGC registry is. I use the Heritage My Collection feature religiously and have for years. If this new NGC feature is not extremely easy to use, I doubt I will spend the time adding my entire collection simply for redundancy's sake.
Yeah, I used it for many years. Never had problem one and I found it very easy to use. And it has things that I have never seen any other program have. It shows you NGC & PCGS pops, it shows how many others have the same coin on their want lists, it also allows you to sell your coins to other Heritage members, it allows you to separate collections into specific areas of your choice. Thoss are just a few of the advantages.
That is the way I felt about it - until this last revision. They took all my organizations and jumbled them together. I have not spent the time to resort it and update it since.
First impressions - I'd like to see a way to add and remove unwanted columns & I'd also like to see a quantity field. Maybe I just haven't found those yet, but as of now, Excell is still better Looks great for cataloging slabbed coins though.
