OOOOPs, I goofed. Those are all proofs, not business strikes---

So, you may have a new one. If you need the email for the CONECA attributor send me a PM---they look at possible new varieties, then attribute them and list them on CONECA's website----

Yeah, I noticed those are all proofs... figure mine could be a circulated proof... doubling is on TED STATES OF, with lower left branch and a couple leaves on the left. Would I have to mail it off to get it attributed? haha.

Bah I nearly snagged the king of Mercuries today. I search clear shrink-wrap boxes of dimes. At that moment I was searching 3 boxes of dimes and I only got 2 silver. I save the silver rolls for last. The first roll obviously contained an 1963 or 1964 because of the shape of the rim. The second one was super worn away and a tad smaller than the rest of the dimes. To be truthful, I was hoping for a Barber. Out popped a Merc *sigh* oh well. I peek at the date, 1916!! My heart rate picked up and I flipped it over slowly. NO MINTMARK :heated:

    Ah well.

Searched 6 boxes in total and found:

    2 1964 Ros
    2 1963 Ros
    1 1916 P Merc G4 condition

PS: I've spent more than half an hour looking at that darn 1916 Merc in different angles of light and different lighting looking for the D. As of right now, I still haven't found it. :too-funny:

What you are describing seems to be on the reverse of a lot of dimes I have seen lately , as if it is an intentional design.

I pulled a couple that were AU+ and put them in flips. But I don't think there is any reason to hoard them. IMHO

It's my understanding that the die can sometimes rotate a bit when it's being engraved. That causes the "Double Die". It's not the same as the doubling created when the die moves slightly when pressing the planchet. The first makes it a valuable variety while the latter is more damage considered than anything else. At least that's what I have been led to believe. I have a 25c, 1964 D that seems to match the pics in the Cherrypickers' Guide, but the guys here said it was "Machine Doubled". But on closer examination and comparison, I think they are wrong ? At least I hope so, because the CP says it is worth about $175.

I looked through all the other silver dimes I've found and none had any evidence of doubling like that. I dunno... I'm taking it to a coin show tomorrow to have some people look at it along with a whole bunch of other coins.

I found this dime that looks to have a thinner plantchet than the other ones? Any ideas on if that's possible or I'm just crazy?

Although there's no definite answer to what my coin is, I guess you're talking about the same thing. Weigh your coin!

    1961 Ros
    1948 Ros

Searched a box of Pennys today, 15 Wheaties, and 6 Canadians. Oldest Wheat was a '30-D, and oldest Canadian was a '45.

    1930 D
    1940 S
    1942
    1944 x 2
    1947 D
    1948
    1949 D
    1952 D
    1954 D
    1956 x2
    1956 D
    1957
    1958 D

I was able to fill two spots in my Whitman folder out of these. Also, since last box I've started to hoard the pre '82 Copper Memorials as well. I've got a pretty good size pile of those going now.

I"m hoping to get another box of Pennys tomorrow or maybe a box of Nickels. Eventually I want to start getting boxes of Halves or Dimes, just don't have the money right now to tie up in boxes.

One more thing, going Metal Detecting tomorrow at Indiana Dunes State Park, hoping to score some silver out there. Will keep you posted.

As the dimes approach AG, they can get pretty thin. Is it below the grade of the coins you're comparing them too?

got a few rolls of dimes and cents.

nothing at all in the dimes, just circulated '90's. still no silver rosie find!

the cents were sorta disappointing. i got $20 worth and got no wheats! not sure why i care so much, the only one i need to complete my set is the 1922 no D(not gonna find one of them in a roll). i did get more shields to add to my hoard of them. got another log splitter also. sorta weird out of the 2009 lincolns i have only found 1 log cabin and 2 splitters. none of the other ones.. i am going to buy a nice unc set of them anyway, its just weird.
