Just because the teller is a banker does not mean they stay current on the spot price of precious metals. Why didn't you ask if you can buy them from them and see if they offer to sell them at below spot ?
There have been a couple of your posts where you have mentioned a teller informing you that they have silver coins and it sounded like they were waiting for you to ask them for them.

All my tellers know they can sell their silver to me for a multiplier of spot. ;)

Approximately. I meant to say a multiplier of face. I'll give any of them 5x face.

    Ltrain,

Next time I'm in Philly or nearby, I'd love to meet up with you and sell you all of my 40% halves at 5x face :p

I don't know, I guess because the first time he told me, he made it seem like he had them where ever he lives already, and the second time because they were out of his till and in his pocket, like he had already bought them for himself....I don't know...I'm shy?

I do not know you from Adam , but I do get the impression you are shy. It would be a joy to hear you pursuing your silver coin searching with more confidence. You have every right to ask to buy coins from a bank and they have their own reasons for saying yes or no. But you do not need to feel like you don't deserve the right to request service from a regulated financial institution just like any other law abiding citizen. Like the saying goes " Handle your business".
It might also help to think of it as doing business , since there are many other folks out there roll searching and the amount of silver in circulation is going to evaporate very quickly. Get it while you can !

i never heard of that? what kinda table game would you need a half? most are $5 min.
and the slot machines are all ticket dispensing rather then coin dispensing?

A blackjack with a $5 bet pays 1.5X, so $7.50. That's why they need the 50 cent pieces. By the way, when you look at the edges of half dollars, the ones with the reeding completely worn away were almost certainly slot machine coins before the casinos went to tokens and tickets-----

Update on this week's 5 boxes:

Box 1: 1 really messed up 1992-S clad proof; no silver.
    Box 2: 3 40% + 2 NIFC's

Will search the box 3 and 4 tomorrow---

went through my first box of halves and i think that right away i hit someone's dump coins. Found multiple marked halves but did manage to find 1 40% in the box. Also found A Ton of bicentenial, anyone think these are worth keeping?

Not at all. They made over 500 million bicentennial halves.

What did the marks look like? Someone on the forum is trying to track where searched coins end up----

No, those aren't the marks. This mark is a lime olive green mark diagonally across the entire obverse from just above the "IN GOD" through Kennedy's face to the "T" in Liberty----

Hmm... Was just taking a closer examination of the '62 dime I pulled out of that $1k, and I think it might be a DDR (No such variety known... yet), but I can't distinguish DD from MD. I can't take pictures to save my life so...

    Hey Train,

    There are 7 known varieties on CONECA's website---2 DDO's and 5 DDR's---check it out:

Does it match any of those descriptions?

Thanks for the advice Kangayou, half of me wanted to ask him if I could buy it, but the other half had decided that he wanted them for himself...next time!

Definitely thinking about sticking to dimes too.
