Looks like DDO-001, I believe there's only 5 of those known. If you have the 6th, it could be worth a pretty penny. There are no auction results for them that I am aware of.
wow i really hope, this works out to be the 6th one! i swear i remember seeing a thread on one a few month back(could have been linked from the past) but either way the coin was a ms6? FS. i remember it went for a crazy amount.
Nice coin. Here is the link for coneca. http://conecaonline.org/content/jeffersondoubleddies19441945.html DDO-001 Designation: 1-O-I-CW Description: Light spread on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, star, and date Grade: MS64 Population: 5 Markers: UVC-182 DMR-010 Stage A: Obverse is EMDS Reverse is LISTED as RPM-008 – EMDS Stage B: Obverse is MDS Die crack from Right dome South between pillars #3 and #4 to N of CENTS – MDS Stage C: Two light die cracks East-West though upper hair – MDS Die crack from dome North to rim though mintmark and 2nd U of PLURIBUS – LMDS Stage D: LDS (unconfirmed) Reported by: James Wiles Is there any repunched mint mark on the reverse?
I am sorry, but it doesn't look right for a DD. The effects on the letters for instance do not seem what is expected ( to me) if the die was truly doubled, like one side doesn't show an effect. Look at the "R" ( 3rd) and "B" ( 4th), the right side seems to show doubling, but nothing on the left vertical. Jim
'44-d "Is there any repunched mint mark on the reverse?" . Not positive, but I think the D is repunched. I've added new photos of the RPM & of the die markers that are described in CONECA's listing. And the episode continues. I will check the RPM book & see if this is the RPM-008 per CONECA. Bonehead
Well bonehead, Looks like you have done some good research! And by the looks of your coin it is better than the ms 64 example reported by coneca!
