He's edited the photo. But the serial number on the slab in your first pic is not part shiny on the NGC record.

 

The coin I received kinda looks like what is in both slabs, on both serial look ups.
I wonder where that pic came from, there is no way it is the coin pictured or either coin that NGC pictured.

It happend to me with a card actually, card was damaged so I was granted a refund. the day the money came out of his account he complained i scammed him and never sent him the card back. I thought this was part of his scam.......3 days later the card was delivered back to my mailbox with a red stamp that said undeliverable............... I sent it back to him one last time even though i didnt have to and he refused it.

 

Travis, sorry, but the coin pictured in the sellers ad is the same coin as the one pictured for NGC. It really is! NGC is noted for taking lousy pictures. I suspect this is one of those cases. Also, a toned coin can change colors dramatically depending on the angle of the light.

But the switcheroo was still played on me.
I received 018, advertised was 016.

I know well about how under different lighting how toned coins look, I've seen and own plenty of toned coins to know that.
I'll keep you guys updated, because so far, no response.

 

I really do not think it was a "switcheroo" - that is with the intent to defraud. Yes, he got the wrong coin. He, and I , are human. We make mistakes. It happens

Just why do you say it was photoshopped? I see nothing to indicate it was.

 

As has been said before on this thread, it all depends on his response. If he makes it right. No harm, no foul.

If he jerks you around, don't be afraid to drop the "negative feedback napalm."

'Cuz that's what it is to a seller on EBay, if you negative feedback him, it's just like taking that F-4 phantom, screaming in at 300 ft AGL and 600 knots, and dropping a massive napalm strike on his future sales, you'll roast his business just as effectively, but if he ripped you off intentionally, he rates it!

If he's a dishonest seller, it's really your duty to stop him before he cheats someone else.

 

I truly hope he just mixed some things up. I hate thinking that there are people who would intentionally cheat you for a few lousy pennies.

 

Maybe I'm not a good judge but those coins look different.

 

Ya know, most of what really grinds us psychologically involves less than a hundred bucks, especially on EBAY. I wish I could just let it go, as folks call it, but the idea we are Pwned just hammers us, and we feel imputent-well you get it. I hope you settle this, but as I read this thread and all the psychic energy involved in posting these comments, I am reminded of.....well, me. Good luck, and this is a good reminder for me how to let it go. Saves energy. The idea of universal justice, or Kharma, or comeuppance, or -however you feel the powers that align the universe level the playing field do so-are indeed true. "Those Guys", well, they do get theirs. And we don't always know it when it happens. But then all of a sudden, you hear them in some rant to their girlfriend on TMZ, or on some tape about a break in which they should not have participated in, Brothers. They do get theirs, and it ain't pretty when it happens.

 

You mean like these two look different? I am not the great photographer, but toned coins can look ENTIRELY different with minor light changes.

 

You'd never be able to tell that was toned from those images!

 

It looks like that may be a good possibility. If you look at the coin in the slab, note how the rim appears to sit just a tad higher than the plastic on both sides! I know that the NGC plastic is thicker than the dime, so how could it sit above the surface of the plastic on both sides.

Be sure to keep copies of the photos. When and if you get this resolved in your favor, I think you should file a formal complaint with eBay. There is no telling how many times he has photoshopped other coins, and he should be NARU'ed.
