There is an early thread on CT about an ASE in an airtite being placed in 2.5" so I'm assuming that a small cent in an air-tire will fit in a 2x2, if maybe not the cent one.

I like 2x2's for writing all the info about the coin, but I would really prefer something more substantial for more expensive cents like an air-tite.

Has anyone tried this? Will such a combo fit in a 2x2 binder sheet (3 ring, 20 pocket style) and will this provide added protection?

    Thanks for any advice

If you are using a clamshell type of holder : like an air-tite, any hard plastic product holder or even a slab, the weak points are the edges where the 2 halves come together. These type of holders depend on a tight fit to limit the entry of environmental gases. Inserting them into a 2x2 or binder page usually tends to align the "weakness" areas" rather than one covering the other. The products mention should be entirely satisfactory over a period of time, but I don't see any additional protective benefit myself. Some have tried sealer products around the edges, but such products such as epoxies or acrylic sealers may have carrier vehicles that are more danger in the long run and I would not do such.

More often than not those binder sheets you're talking about will cause harm, most of them contain PVC. And that's the last thing you want anywhere near your coins.

There is one or two companies that make those sheets that are PVC free, but you have to search them out.

I put my Lincolns into an Air-Tite holder, then I staple them into a quarter size 2x2, put that into a Cowans brand 3-ring binder sheet and those pages go into a nice, 3-ring binder. I then put the whole thing into a giant ziplock bag with a huge desiccant pack.

this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! I'm pretty sure my binder pages are Cowans but I will have to double check.

I like this method because I have complete flexibility. I have multiples for many years/mints and I'm able to put them all next to each other. If a coin is less valuable, I don't waste an airtite on it. Here's a picture my Memorial cent binder.

    Nice Memorials!

So I have a few cowan pages, and the other few are Edgar Marcus & Co. I tried researching this company and the product, but I cannot find any info on it. The page is semi rigid, but it does have that certain shower curtain 'scent' to it. Does anyone know if this product contains PVC?

Seems like everyway I turn something is trying to destroy, deteriorte, eat away at, and otherwise ruin my coins. :(
