A friend of mine wants to sell me this Half Dollar for 100 bucks. Think it's a deal? Sorry for the pictures, they are the ones she sent me.
According to my Krause book from '97 in f-12 it is worth $175. Krause was the closest book I could find at the moment, but based off of that I guess it's a good deal, because it looks to be around that condition. I'm no expert though.
Reverse looks really nice. Obverse picture pretty hard to tell but assuming it's real that looks like a great deal. I would be all over that.
Yeah, it does look nice but won't know for sure how nice until it's in my hands. Scratches don't always show on pictures over the net.
Do all Copys and Replicas have it stamped on them or are there ones without it? I'll be mad if it's fake.
Exactly, that's why i used f-12 since it is kind of in the middle, and it is hard to tell just how nice it is from the pics. If they want you to know it's a copy, then it will be stamped with a copy, and if they want to scam you, then they won't?
She might not even know it's a copy then... guess I'll wait and see. She's not a coin collector, she found it in her husband's things and he said to sell it. According to her he has had it all his life.
No they don't. Do you have a scale to weigh it? Should weigh 12.50 grams. The more I look at the coin the more I like it. Reverse looks in excellent condition. Obverse looks nice by the small pictures but too small to really give a grade. That reverse looks EF and if the obverse is the same that is a major steal for a 100 bucks.
Looks like it could be some nice toning which is common and may add some value. Hard to tell by the small picture.
No problem. I hope that is real..Here is an XF40 on on Ebay right now and that might be a nicer one. http://cgi.ebay.com/1921-WALKING-LI...em&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item4aa2d1bab0 If that one is real I would submit it for grading. How about submitting it for your friend and splitting what it's worth? If that is real 100 bucks would be really low balling your friend.
That is what I'd probably do. I'm still hesitant about sending in coins to grading companies but maybe I'll use this one to test the waters.
Cool. If you don't have a scale please get one. Good place to start is the weight. I hope it works out for both of you. Keep us posted!
The coin's at least VF details, easy. However, I can't see the obverse well enough to even figure out what the date is.
