Here you go Midas: Ken Barr Numismatics kenbarrnumis Ebay Seller ID [when he has items for sale on eBay] Ken is a great guy. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I've picked up some of my Souvenir Cards for him too. :smile
Thanks Greg, Ken emailed me this morning to let me know they are going out. He said the Eagle is one of his favorites and that I will not be disappointed. Looking forward to the mail next week!
Many of my fine examples I have, came from this seller. I cannot pick any of the 4 items up, but when you look at the price per piece ~ this is a great deal! Just though I should pass this on in case anyone wants to jump start their collection. Best Regards ~ Darryl http://cgi.ebay.com/ALBUM-COLLECTIO...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4150d9ce18
Darryl - Thanks for the link - I just recently stumbled upon this thread and started researching indidivuals pieces - some of these are offered on Ebay in the $14-$16 dollar range each. I might just use this as my starting point for my new collection! Semper Fi! Doug
i also have a few albums that were put away a few years ago & started posting some & got intrested again, used to belong to The Souvenier Card Collecting Society. Now I'm buying them again here & their ,but if you new to collecting card this is a good ebay item to keep an eye on,card & the White Ace Album is a nice start,
You are quite welcome Doug! Some of these individual cards I see on a regular basis, but not below $10. At worse case that would be $200 for a set! Paul (the seller) always ships quickly and has been great to deal with! I would be glad to see someone from the site pick these up and share some of the vignettes with the group! Happy 4th to you sir and thank you for your service during a challenging time! I left the Navy in August of 90 and had the fortunate opportunity to serve our country in the Submarine Service. Not too much excitement in what I did, but a great opportunity to be part of something special!
Much thanks Krispy I checked out the Ken Barr site but only found postage stamp cards I'll go back and look again.
From kenbarr.com BEP souvenir cards 1969 - 1986 (B 1 - B 100) BEP souvenir cards 1987 - date (B 101 - date) Semi-Official souvenir cards (ABNCo. / etc.)
Here's an Abraham Lincoln card I got at the ANA convention in Baltimore in 1985. it's signed by the Director of the Mint and canceled on the back. I'm having a tough time upload two more but will keep trying.
The Statue of Liberty card in canceled and signed by the Director of the Mint, 1985. Ken Barr sells this card for $175.00 canceled I wonder how much it sells for signed by the Director of the Mint. The Statue of Liberty and Lincoln just cost a few bucks each at the ANA show in 1985. I don't know why the images don't display. If you click on the links the images will display. Krispy thanks again for the Ken Barr links.
Mail Call Three cards and I am still struggling with which I like the most! Enjoy! These next two shots were with the cards back lit, I thought it looked interesting so I figured I would share.
Very hard to say which I like best but I really am drawn to the image of Justice (blindfolded), yet the eagle seems good for other occasions. Any special intent for using these doe something special?
I agree, prior to receiving them I felt that Justice was the one I would like the least but in hand it has very stunning detail! The image just captures the eye and holds it on her. Very Beautiful Card! The Eagle is also very stunning and LARGE! The vignette alone measures 6 1/2" X 8". It's big! Still trying to figure out how I am going to display this growing collection. My home office is 10X8 and I already have some of my photography framed up on the wall. With those two and another nice piece of art, there is not much wall space left. Any ideas? Thanks for taking a look!
This image is just off the net, borrowed from an interior decorating site, apartmenttherapy.com, but I have always admired an aesthetically arranged cluster of picture frames: An arrangement of this sort reminds me of the way old European art museums and palaces used to display a lot of work in their galleries: Hanging everything you have in clustered order, is kind of like having your cake and eating it too.
plaster walls ~ so I try not to put to many holes in them. I think it would not take long to have my office looking like that 2nd picture. In the not to distant future I plan on hanging a small flat screen tv on the wall where those pictures are hanging now. When that happens I will have to reevaluate the wall space and how I am using it. I do like that kitchen arrangement but that is not going to work well in this very small space.
Oh man! Flat screen TVs mounted to walls, plaster wall, do some major damage. LOL!... especially if you snake the cables down behind the drywall and fish them out an access point near the floor so you don't see wires dangling from the mounted TV. At least if you have a lot of holes you can cover them with your many prints.
Thank you for the complement! The Panama Girl Card is cataloged as FM12, Lady Justice is cataloged as FM9, and the Eagle is F1985D. http://www.kenbarr.com/fore.html for the Eagle Description http://rsb.riche.net/cards/fmcards.htm for the Justice Listing and many others if you poke around. I do not have a link for the Panama Girl. It came out in 2004. Hope that helps. Best Regards ~ Darryl
