I have some cotton gloves I use to handle my proofs. Eventually I want to wash them. Can I use regular detergent? Anything different I should do?

I've washed them before, but I don't use them for handling proofs. I wouldn't use fabric softener if you are going to handle proofs.

I can't hold onto coins with gloves but if I needed to wash them, I would use harm water only and hand wash in the sink.

I would do as most said and buy new ones since they are so inexpensive and detergents may hold various agents. But all and all I can't see it being a huge variable , it's your call. If you do result to washing them I would hold of using fabric softener , sheet or liquid.

Yeah! Haven't you ever heard of Harm Water? That's what sunk the Titanic.

I suggest something like Woolite, then multiple rinses.

Yeah. Proof coins scare me. Do them in batches and make sure you not only wear gloves, but not a bad idea to have some kind of mask over your mouth and nose - and the mask you don't have to worry about cleaning too much if you only use it once in awhile.

I've got coins in airtites from 2-3 years ago. Ouch! That little goofy spot or stain or whatever. I'm sure I was drinking a coke or a beer or whatever. Talk about remorse! GRRRRR!
