Thanks everyone, I'm so glad we all have the same taste in these pretty little guys and that you appreciate them as much as I do. I am humble to have been lucky enough to find and acqure them, but very proud to be able to share them with others who can enjoy them as much as I do. :D

Wow, I didn't even know that thread existed until now. Some beautiful coins in there, and thank you for thinking mine is worthy of the "museum"! I am truly honored.

Believe it or not, it started out as a contest, one that seemed to consume most of the regulars on the board. We got great work from all kinds of corners and users. Fish one the contest but I keep adding more worthy entries. I wish I could do some house-cleaning on the thread at this point, but still I think we ALL contributed to making a wonder resource for the Coin Talk community.

I tried to make another contest for Post 10,000 that took the concept even one step further, but it was such a high bar that nobody participated :)

Thanks Ruben for the info on the museum - what a great idea, and a great thread!

De Orc and the rest, that 1864-L reeded edge has always been one of my favorites too (as well as everyone else's whenever I post it!). Whoever crafted that rim was a master - and it looks so perfectly natural with the coin. Here are several different close up shots of the edge so you can see how well that reeded edge was made.

Is that a proof? There is acraftmanship that has been lost to the mechanics, precision and digitalization of the new designs. Another example of that craftsmanship is in the 1913 Indian Head Nickels. Is that a proof?

I believe you may have the only known PMD that actually adds value.

If you're referring to the reeded edge, no its not a proof, the reeding was done post minting.

I never thought of that! I only know that I really like this coin, and thought the reeding was done very beautifully.
