LOL I will assume you are being serious!!! I just thought it was worth posting since some believe Roosevelt's cannot get over $20
Oh, yeah, I'm serious! That's a beautiful coin! I'd never spend that kind of moola on it because I'm really cheap but I can appreciate the beauty of it.
The shipping alone is $20 on that thing. That pretty much blows your idea of values for Roosies out of the water since the first bid of .99¢ made that $20.99, hence over $20. :goofer:
Yea I am definitely not paying that price for it either.......the scratches on the cheek make it a 66 IMO.........its just nice to see roosevelts fetch cash
Dimefreak I wish people WOULD give them some respect, because then maybe when it came time to sell, they would actually do good. I just sold a beautifully toned Roosie... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...072679&ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT#ht_500wt_1154 I lost money on this coin. When I bought it, it was from a seller with crap pictures. My pictures, being 100 times better, got me a loss of money, granted the auction did end really really late, I don't think the coin would've done a heck of a lot better if it ended at 6 PM. I'd gotten different opinions on that coin, being smallest to largest it was $40-$80 range of what it would go for. $24.27 just doesn't cut it. Roosevelt Dimes have a very good design and it hasn't changed yet, like all the other modern crap, and lets hope to keep it that way. Roosie's and Ikes are another one I can think of, that are real sleepers!
well great news I went on just now and I am winning. apparently the high bidder had got his bids canceled!
I hate to say it but something like that with that kind of premium, I think is a risky buy in this economic climate. tmoney just showed you at least a 50% loss on a real nice one, that many, many more people could have potentially bid on compared to this one. It has the label and the credentials. I'll give you that. But it looks like wild speculation for the sake of two people's registries to me. I tend to worry a bit about the toned coin market. I always wonder just how solid the foundation is under it. Always wondering if some news will break that will cause the market to drop like a rock over night and never recover. For example, a former TPG grader does an interview and exclaims how poorly/unable they really are to be able to weed out AT'd coins. We know right now that people are attempting to or have achieved AT processes that get some coins slabbed. Now that it's pretty much become a business of AT'ing common stuff, I think the future is shaky. Especially all the modern toned stuff. Its just not normal. There's no reason for a dime to look like that. Bag toning, album toning, something plain, I could understand. I can't help but wonder how these toning sellers on ebay have a never ending supply of high dollar, brightly colored coins of all denominations. Since it's in a slab, people will bid a dime up to $1,700 that probalby wouldn't sell for $300 loose. Again, i have to say it's risky.
You are on point with everything you said. I have a bought a $4 roosie that graded MS67 FB which = SAVING MOOLAH. I will however say I think this is the only set you can say that for. Theres enough dealers here that I am sure dont have a single customer looking for roosies unless its bouillon related.
Beautiful coin. I never was much for Rosies but I was trading some stuff the other day and picked up a beautifully rainbow toned 1964. The guy I got it from graded it MS-66 but its not been sent in. Its definately in MS though.
Ever hear there are phony auctions on eBay, meant to spark interest in a seller's coins? Not saying that is the case with this auction, but have heard it happens when a coin goes for an unbelievable price.
I like mine that I got last month , bad picture it looks much better in hand .Its a nice coin at $10.26 not a * not FT just a MS67 but the price was right http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120578799383&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
