I ahve been looking for a nice set of cufflinks for a while, and am thinking of buying two 5$ gold commemoratives (maybe the SF 2006?) at about melt and making cufflinks out of them. 1: Has anyone tried to make coin cufflinks? Is it a travesty? 2: Is there any way to do this without mutilating the coin? 3: any ideas on how much the cufflinks themselves would cost (the coins would be whatever they cost, and bought separately. Thanks for your help.
Yes, it would be a travesty to damage a perfectly good gold coin like that, but I seriously doubt that you will find one of those coins at a price anywhere near melt value. Why don't you inquire at a jewelry store like the one I've linked for you? Chris http://www.differencecoin.com/catalog/countries/united_states.html
