funny: "and nature certainly isn't making them (and probably never did) ;)"

    So--

PCGS is better with AT apparently.

He sure has the "marketing" part of the listing down pat. I'll be surprised if anyone will bite though.

IMO than coin is naturally mint set toned, 1958 blue toners are common and generally higher grade. In a 66 fbl holder it might be worth 1/3 of his buy it now but he has a good sense of humor.

This is in 'coin chat', shouldn't these posts be in 'monster coin chat'?
    Is pretty funny listing though.

Yeah, I've seen many mint set toned Frankies like that one - looks NT to me.

It's bad enough they walk among us, but the scarier thought is they can reproduce!

I found the link to the listing from the owner in the Cu forum. Just thought yall would be interested in what he says again.

That is precisely where I saw it this morning which urged me to post it here.
He's been a member since 02', wonder if he has been unprofessional, and dumb that long. One would think if he was in coins that long, especially on that forum, he'd be more professional with his listings.
I personally, don't take this listing seriously at all, and I think this will sell a lot less than what that dude thinks.

I saw that coin for auction and I actually thought it was funny. The seller has an imagination :goof:

the coin sold for about 3x what its listed on numismedia. although very misleading, everything on that listing appeared to be legit. call him what you will, but all hes doing is taking us for suckers. and we are biting (consumers/collectors)

I don't think 3x wholesale is all that bad, although I wouldn't have bought this coin.

That bad for who? Bad for whoever bought it. Not bad for the seller. I never would have paid that much either. The numismedia price I am refering to is the collector price, not the dealer price. (I am under the impression numismedia collects average sale data, meaning average price for that coin is 1/3 of what was paid here.)

No you are right, Numismedia price I believe is accumulated from auction prices realized, and the overall market of the coin, other words, retail value.
I personally, wouldn't pay that much for that coin, BUT, I'm saying if somebody else did, it isn't that bad. The toning probably looks nicer in hand, but I still wouldn't buy it at 3x, might consider at 2...

The crazy part is, via ebay, at least 2 people bid that high. I really don't understand the big deal about toning. But who am I to tell people what to like!

Toning adds eye appeal to any coin making it more valuable.
Prices for toned coins have skyrocketed on a lot of series. Toned Morgans sell for a lot of money, and toned Morgans come in kooky kolors...

Are you saying you don't understand the big deal about coins like this?

All four of those coins have exquisite eye appeal. Eye appeal is one of the determining factors of price and grading.

I paid a premium for toning on those coins, but not too much, I try not to go 5x over retail or even wholesale, I try not to go that much over anyway, sometimes 2x sometime 10x, it depends on the prices to begin with, the population, etc etc.
