Agreed. If, however, the collector did collect because he/she was a fan of those totalitarian regimes then, I, for one, would have no respect for them. That said..... back to the game: I am still + at the 1/2 way mark. Thanks for reviving this thread. Sorry, Doug-- It deserved a comment.... No more politics here. Before we get chastised, lets get back to coins.
I've never seen anyone complain about Japanese coinage, nor have I ever seen anyone complain about Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai. If we seek to destroy all of the unfortunate artifacts of the past, then we may as well burn all history books. Chris
Guys, lets drop the whole historical/political thing. Coinhunter007 is just BNB trying to insult me because I made fun of his youtube video. I would hate to see this thread locked because of it.
It's good to be back. I wish I had entered the contest. I kept putting it off and then got busy with school and never got around to it. It looks like it has been interesting.
If I recall correctly, one of the reasons mikenoodle started the contest was because there were a few threads focused on investing in coins and bullion at the time, one or more of which I think were started by BNB. Sure, bullion prices change every few minutes, but for most U.S. coins, the PCGS Guide prices will change at least once over the period of a year. By the way, have we decided if lobbying PCGS for a change to the Price Guide where it is warranted is grounds for disqualification in this contest??
Too bad I wasn't aware of this contest - would have been nice to put BNB in his place. "I'm just good at it." How'd that investment in a the world's most lustrous and fingerprinted three leg buffalo go? lol
Right but look at this this way. Bullion updated every minute of the day. Nusmatic coins updated maybe once a year if you are lucky. one tends to be more stable than the other but the other can easily climb higher than the one. i have a couple of pre-1933 coins in my buy the price of gold has gone up but the coin itself has gone down who wins? now if i had gold bullion it would have been a lot better as it has been increasing. I stand by my picks but a person that soley invests in bullion will have a greater advantage than collectable coin person.
This isn't always the case. BNB's decision to stock up on pocket pieces could have went either way. I once received a hate mail message from the guy, but as far as his selection goes, it's as valid as anybody else's IMO.
