Thats what I was thinking. If it was even worth $1200 an auction house would probably approach him offering to list it, but thats not the case. That listing is just another stunt aimed at creating more hype for a coin that isn't nearly as special as it's currently hyped to be.

just another person who really knows nothing about coins and believes they have the END ALL coin while its only a somewhat rare and not extremely valueble error. as bad as the guy with his canadian cent from 1974 or whatever.

  4. How does it make it an 11c coin? Do we add the front and back of coins now? So a penny is 2c a quarter is 50c a dime is 20c, etc. Most valuable coin on earth, YES!!! It would be SOOOOO EASY to reproduce this coin.

Well, the coin is in "mint" condition, says so right on the slab, that ought to be worth a lot of the asking price. Anything that has a mysterious backstory like that you gotta believe right?

It's not the most valuable coin in the world until someone buys it for more than the current record holder.
    I don't see this happening.

My most valuable coin is an 1866 Two Cent Piece my dad got me when I was a little kid. Worth about $10 but priceless to me although I WOULD part with it for $3 million.

There is a similar coin in the errors section of the Redbook (page 407) which is struck 45% off center but has both Lincoln and Roosevelt Obverses and Reverses. It's estimated value is $5,000. There are several UNIQUE errors valued up to $50,000. This is the actual range of value in my humble opinion.

Here's a quote from the auction-

That coin reminds me of the old Hunter S. Thompson quote: "Too weird to live, too rare to die."

ice Just happy to be here

Since no two error coins are the same you can't say he's lying just deceiving people. I think he has convinced himself that the coin is more than it really is he's posted to several coin forums including here about the coin. Ice

Yep, I could care less if he is a member here or not. Me and him, and other members have already discussed this here on CT.
I believe his screen name is redwin117 or something like that.
It isn't like I would feel guilty if he came to this thread all down and depressed or even angry at us.
I would be interested in your opinion on this auction. Are you saying all of us are wrong?

I would have to agree, member or not, posting an auction that out of line and deceitful should be brought to light and made humor of. I do believe that if it were certified by a reputable TPG that it would fetch 100's to maybe 1000's on a good day :) but 12 million is a complete joke and claims of it being the most valuable numismatic piece is very, very, um did I mention very far fetched from the truth.
