    Hi,

I have a 1989 that has some errors and that I originally posted in a treasure forum, great place, but thought a coin site may be the place to be since I am more into collecting coins than other artifacts. That said, I found this a couple of days ago. Some suggested the error was post, however, the error goes beneath the words, leaving them untouched so my thought is, it's prior and happened when it was made. There are a few errors but I have no idea what to call them. Thanks!

    Welcome to the neighborhood, Paul!

Someone familiar with Lincoln errors will probably chime in to help you.

    That's just a deteriorated die.

Ok, thank you, so the die was simply old when the coin was made?

EDIT: I found information on the fake or poor man's double die, but was wondering then about the ridge cut through the rim and raised edge, is all this due to the same? Thanks!

yup, in the 80s after the switch to zinc cents, you'll find alot of that.
