Has anyone read and/or reviewed this book? Any input as to whether it's a worthwhile investment? Thanks, - CheetahCats
I guess it depends on the level of your interest in circulating counterfeit British coins. It is not one of my more used books on colonials, but it does fill an overlooked niche. I am off to work now, will get my copy out later and try to give more details.
There is a short section on the history and circulation of counterfeit halfpence, including some good info on Machin's Mills. There are photographic plates and descriptions of some 170 or so specimens, and rarity ratings of counterfeit halfpence by date. There is also a section on valuation and auction appearances. It is a good book, It is not one of my most used references, but I am still glad I bought it.
