I saw this in the Numismatist awhile back and it perked my interest with a low 2500 mintage and the first in a series. Not to mention the controversy behind it. Of course I had to open the capsule to take pictures and to get a whiff of it. LOL It's a very nice coin, I can see no blemishes so it should be good for a PR-69 or 70.
I got a news letter from a company about that coin and really wanted to get it but decided against it as it is only silver plated. If it was at least a 1 oz silver round I would have gladly paid an extra $25 for it! Very sweet coin - I like it
I got one last week, I haven't opened the case yet, but someday I'll get curious and give it a sniff.
Wonder what would happen if you set that baby on fire... I'm on the fence about calling that a nice coin... I guess the leaf is well struck? lol
Funny how this colorized coin is so readily accepted... although it looks to have significant verdigris. Nothing that a can of herbicide couldn't clean up.
