    Hey,
I came across this coin and was wondering what your thoughts about it are. I know its hard to give a realiable answer from scans, but would like some thoughts about it since I live quiet a bit away from any type of coin shop. So if I could get some initial thoughts that would be wonderful.

I do have larger scans if they would be helpful.

    Thank You in Advance,
    Casey

It's damaged, but it appears to be genuine.

I'll take a guess that it's real and it's damaged and it's worn.

...and slightly off center (or is it that how it fits in the album)?

Thats how it fits in the Album, but i'm thinking about getting away from Albums, espcially for a coin like that, i was considering getting that one slabbed

looks real but like they said before, it will get a net great based on details because of the damage.

    Damaged but authentic.
    The date looks fine untampered.
The MM does have dirt but there are no signs of glue, soder or any adhesive of any sort.
    Nice Find.

Are you sure? Look at the obverse rim, see how it's thicker around LIBERTY, and thins out going clockwise towards 1932? Notice the same on the reverse in the opposite position, thicker under QUARTER DOLLAR, and thins out towards the top?

    Looks off center to me.

some of that is the angle that the album was when the picture was taken

    It'll cost more than it's worth.:rolling:

It won't cost more than it's worth to it get graded; unless it's not authentic. But IMO this is a perfect album coin and would only submit it if you cannot obtain a professional opinion as to its authenticity. But try to get a coin dealer to validate it for you and save the $$.

Its worth more than $20, But nonetheless key dates are copied so most are not willing to buy them raw.

If I had to say a grade, it would be G, about $25.

Similar unslabbed coins/condition have been going for around $80 on ebay.

It does have damage, but even so, I'm inclined to say the $80 value is closer to what it is.

Just a follow up, I ended up getting the coin back from PCGS that slabbed it as real, however they wouldn't grade it do to the damage to the coin.

Who would bother making a fake out of a coin with that much wear? It's real enough just not in very good shape with the combination of damage and wear. If you run across an AU-50 or higher, I'll flip ya for it. :mouth:

Thank you for reporting back. Often people don't do that unless it is a great success, and that often doesn't happen. It makes a thread that newcomers can learn from.
