I got about 50 of these in an auction lot where I was after the morgans and these pennys came with the deal. What do you think, keepers or trash bin? Steve
Your Ok Chris, Get me your address I will send you a couple just for posting. Good things happen to good people, its true. Steve
Hello Captainkirk, I am strange I guess in that I only actively collect morgan dollars and bust halves, I can see now many members collect a wide variety of US coinage at the same time. I think thats why DimeFreak is busting my stones a little I think. Ive heard it said Chris has one of everything, maybe he doesnt have this type. So Im going to send him a couple. Steve
definately worth the effort to get some money back on these! Post them on here and save the fees! Richard
Keep these things!!!!! At a local dealer or even on eBay each one could probably go for $50 EACH average. Maybe if you would sell ALL of them to buy a nicer coin that would be a good idea, but they are worth a decent amount.
Cinderella Man; Did you see how happy Chris is to know hes got some coming in the mail? That makes it worth it to me. Lifes To Short, Steve
Hahaha Life is way too short and I'm glad you realize that too. I would be happy to even have 1 of those, much more a whopping 50. And you got them with your Morgans, which you probably bought a decent amount of to get 50 coronet/braided pennies. Very kind of you to send some to a friend. I was just pointing out that these are worth a good amount each.
I have no clue what they're worth but they're certainly cool. You could always give them to a little kid or put them in a penny roll and give them to someone. My son and I search pennies and halves so my father purchased an 1892 barber half and stuck it in a roll for him...it's all he talks about. A coin that starts with '18xx'. I'm sure most 6 year olds would react same as him....just another idea.
while that is a nice idea, it wouldn't work. modern cents (from 1856-present) are 19mm in diameter, while the braided/coronet ones are 28mm. sadly, they wouldn't fit in the rolls like halves do. but i do like the way you think. gives me an idea for my daughter...
