I just bought a slabbed one for 125.00. It is a VG 8 by Anacs. It will work for me.

For your own good, learn about troubling signs to look for on early copper. The coin you posted on this thread is corroded and has been smoothed to hide the corrosion, possibly in a rock tumbler or some other device. And of course, that means that it is only market acceptable if sold for a fraction of the price of an un-damaged specimen. Do your research, on prices, and on the coin itself, and you will be much better off--I guarantee. You might buy W. Sheldon's "Penny Whimsy" to start. Good luck with that ANACS specimen, their grading is spotty at best IMHO. Please post pics! I love early copper!!

I thought it was perfect. See why I ask you guys. Thanks for the info. At least the one I bought didn't cost much and it has been verified??

about that cent you linked i dont like it. it must have been tooled and/or tampered with. its probably not worth half the final auction price.

as long as its slabbed problem free 125 sounds ok.

Very nice coin! (the VG-8) Choice surfaces for the VG grade.

I just now noticed that it is the large fraction with small date. Adds no value but is cool.
