Nice coin, but not sure it will grade. I have handled 3 MS-65 1924-d's, two were NGC and one PCGS.

Charmy bought the best of them all from me, a NGC 65-BR. The 2 others were not so nice and I sold them at local shows at a discount. Your's sure has a nice strike Thad, but to get it holdered will be a toss of the coin. Perhaps Charmy will post her NGC 65-BR for us to compare.........

Why dont you think it will grade Jack. I am still trying to learn so I would like to hear your reasoning. Thanks

The coin Thad posted has a " look " to it, it does not look gradeable to me.

A long time go, RLM and I split a NGC 65 BR that I later regreted, it was PVC damaged and I had to dump it at loss, tuition paid.

My PCGS 65BR was " ok" for the grade, but nothing special, average strike, no luster. Charmys was a monster. I also sold Pennyguy and sweet 63RB that was primo for the grade, maybe he will post it for us to compare.

Thads coin looks treated in some way..oiled, Coincare, Blue Ribbon.....I am only speculating based on internet pics, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. It IS a nice coin and def has a better than average strike for the date, but just looks " iffy " as to it slabibility.....:)

It is here http://www.cointalk.com/t79259/#post740384. It is also on her web site.

Wouldn't care to elaborate not sure it will grade, would you?

    Yeah, I'll elaborate

Getting copper into a PCGS slab these days is like threading a needle unless it is absolute original......

It's a really pretty coin, but it's hard to say from the photo whether Thad's coin will slab or not, I'm not getting a good "feel" for the toning from the photos. If it does slab, the debris may hold it back to MS63. But as far as strike goes, it's pretty nice, especially for 24-D's - that's a big plus! Here's mine for comparison....

    Optical illusion, there's nothing there.

Thanks Charmy, the toning looks quite natural in hand. There's no colors, just red and brown, it's quite pure. I've seen a lot of retoned and artifical color Lincolns, this one looks like it should IMO.

My ONLY fear is that they will AU-58 me. LOL I really, really hate when they do that! I'll have the answer in a couple of months. :)
