F-12 - F15 Maybe around $30-$40 It could have some kind of different attribution, and concerning that, I can't help. Edit: Heck I think I was a little generous with the grade. A little to quick to shoot on this one. Here is a good link; http://www.uscents.com/coppergrade/gradesmatron.html I think it is closer to VG8 than F-12, and value is still around $30.
I would grade it VG8 details, environmental damage, net good. If I am seeing it right, value would be a tough guess since I cannot find an equivalent. Maybe $600?
Unless it is a rare (R.4) variety (e.g., N-04, N-09 to N-12, N-18 & N-19), a scudzy F-12 1835 is worth no more than $11-$16.
I am far (very far?) from an expert on these, but it sure looks like that N-18 I referenced on Heritage to me.
Hmmm...I guess I need some education here. I don't see an N18 or N19 in Newcomb's book (United States Copper Cents 1816-1857).
RLM - look at the placement of the curl above the 5. On this one it is the center, on the N-18 it is left of the left edge of the 5.
Gosh - missed this since I do not have a N-18 and N-19. THis coin is head of 1836 and the N-18 is head of 1834. It must be this heat and my air is off to see if something is frozen.
LOL - you did. I was busy looking through the book when your other post appeared. Plus going to heritage with the link. Missed it.
As I said, I am not an expert. Also, it is not the common ones I ran across on Heritage. I have no idea if it is or is not another common one, but it looks similar to N-11 - similar meaning I have not found a difference.
Let me try to attribute it, but here is a N-18 side by side with this coins. Definetly not an N-18. I would say this coin is VG-8, net G-4.
Thanks Mark! I don't know squat about these. I appreciate everyone's ideas but I have a sneaky feeling this is a $10-15 coin. The environmental issue is plainly obvious....especially to me since it was covered with verdgris when I received it. LOL :mouth:
