I purchase a 1999 silver proof set and the coins are a little foggy at the edges. The seller had no returns on the listing and when asked if the set shown is what I'm getting he said yes. However the pictures were used in two of his listings with the same responce. I don't know if the fogging at the edge is enough to worry about sending them back under protest or just keep them for 180 bucks. What do you think.
That haze is relatively common in those silver proof sets. $180 is an excellent price but you really need to be happy with the set. If you are not happy now, it is only going to get worse. TC
same response? as in negative feedback? How do you know that two others are foggy and is the picture from the auction of coins that are NOT clear? If he misrepresented the coins through stock photos, etc., I'd try to return them somehow. Either through eBay, paypal or some other method. If the pictures were of the coins that you bid on, then you bid knowing that there are no returns.
The same response was to the question 'Is the set in the ad the one for sale? Thanks' his response 'Yes. Thanks for your interest.' Here are the coins in the picture. As you can tell they are the same picture used for each listing. I had to add a 1 to the end of the url to be able to post them. I'm not going to return the set and I guess I may have posted this in the wrong thread. It should have been in the 'Unscrupulous dealers section' if there is one.
The haze you see will get worse with time, that is given. So you have to decide if that matters to you.
