Viewing coins with this scanner in the 60's and 70's. I came across it spring cleaning. The last day of spring, but I got it in before summer.

You can put a stack of coins in the tube and slide the coin under the magnifier to view. To flip sides you just push it in a little further and pull back. Then pull out to eject the coin and load another.

  7. That is very cool. It reminds me of the old Panavision viewfinder I had as a kid. Someone should invent the "Tone-O-Matic" for coins :) TC

Great job ! I still have the garage, 2 bedrooms and 3 closets to go. Finally got the pantry done though. Aiming for Spring 2012 0r 13 now.

    Nice find too !

  11. Yes, I had that same one. I also had a single slide pana-vue with a collection of 35mm slides of space images from the mood landing. TC

I have wondered about the flipping action. Someone had mention on a different forum that a metal flat spring was deformed and the released, flipping the coin. Does it leave a mark on the coin?

Your stuffing your coins into a View Finder?

No, it slides up a plastic ramp and flips over. Never touches anything but plastic. Put a towel under it to catch the ejected coin.

A long time ago I would buy $20.00 of rolled cents from the bank and run them through this viewer.

When I was in school, the CPU would have required a small building.

Now you could run 1968 NASA from your Ipod. :kewl:

Your kidding. Your IPOD is equal to 5,000,0000 NASA's from 1968.

That's the truth. I remember the films of "Braniac", the government IBM computer that towered over the operators and required a huge room. Guess the Japanese started the "miniaturization" and got us going.
