Does anyone on here collect the coins? If so, how could one go about acquiring them? I haven't asked at banks because I do not think the bank would carry them. Do banks have rolls of Ikes available? Thank you, NTC2010.
Does anyone here collect the coins? lol I think everyone at CoinTalk collects coins except Doug who used to... Banks do not usually have rolls of Ikes. Where do you get coins...banks, the mint, shops, shows, flea markets, ebay, auction sites, coin mag's, mail order lists, friends, family, the yard with a metal dector, ect...
i was thinking this the other day. i would hate to pay a premium on them, because they are worth basically face. and who would take the time to sell them for face. banks around here don't have them. i was able to get one(1972-D), that i happened to see in a cashiers register. the rest were given to me by my grandmother.
You should ask at banks. I have gotten at least 60 from banks this year. They aren't rolled or anything like that. They will just be loose in the tellers drawers.
Yep. Check here for some Post an Ike Banks, Coin shows, coin shops, eBay, eBid, TeleTrade, Apmex, Provident Metals, post a wanted thread in the CoinTalk Open section, coin web sites, etc, etc, etc... They may or they may not. They may have bags, or just a few, or hundreds unrolled, luck of the draw walking into banks. You are welcome, krispy. :smile
You can find Ikes a coin shops, private collectors, coin shows, etc. If you want a bag of Ikes, $100 face value for $145, send me a private message and I can put you in touch with one of my dealers who has them.
Why try to search for circulated Ikes when BU Ikes are fairly inexpensive? Most of the Proof & Mint Sets for 1971-1978 cost less than $10. Chris
