physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Its been too long since I've bought any of these, so when I saw them my itchy trigger finger slipped and bought them both. Guessing the grades should be easy (if you know me at all), but guess the Overton as well! I have a good guess for what each is, but I want y'all to confirm if you will.

Going XF45 on both - going with O-110 on 1817(pictures too small to see if triple segment present) and O-105 on 1829. Nice additions.

The 29 is O-105 and I would grade it EF-45. I cant really make out the details on the 1817 but would grade it @ EF-40. I would like to measure the devices on that before causing a storm.

The first coin looks to me to be XF40, the second XF45-- both have great skin and the right look. Congrats!

Strikeluster, I agree with your O-#'s.

PCGS graded the 1817 a 40, and the 1829 a 45. From the pictures, I think the '17 is undergraded, but I will make a better determination, and post better pics, when I get them in hand.

    Physics Fan,

Im reallly at a disadvantage here. I perfer to perfom all my diagnostics with a ruler. I dont feel comfortable assigning Overton #s without my ruler to measure the devices and date etc. I love both of your coins by the way. The 1817 is an excellent example of a condtion rarity for 1817. It commands a premium price.

I generally only use a ruler on the really tricky ones. Usually, relative positions of letters, stars, dentils, and devices is quite sufficient to assign a variety - there are very few marriages where the dies are so close that a ruler is necessary for me. I guess its because I do most of my practicing with pictures online, where a ruler is not an option.

I see. Its my eyes really, my vision is not so good and I need a ruler to help me.

The two lower arrow shafts on the 1829 look as if they had been die lapped into oblivion. So it is an 0-105a. Is that a difference? Reference is the fourth edition (Parsley), some swear the third edition is better.

    Thank for sharing them!

    Both are great Bust half's!
1817 maybe the rare type of the 2!

Those are great coins, I hate not having my Overton book with me, but I think they are 50 and 45 respectively, but that PCGS probably called the 17 XF instead of AU.

They both arrived Thursday, but I didn't get a chance to photo them until this afternoon. Tell me what you think now, with larger pictures!
