For those of us who buy coins and other items on Ebay, we occasionally encounter a doozie. I bought a Rolex watch that arrived yesterday from seller exw-com. It did not fit, and I immediately returned it per auction terms. I then received this response: i have no money left in my paypal or bank account for refund sorry. best is they close my paypal account and i will have the watch and the money. i found only one link and put in for you, you can get extra link on ebay for cheap, $20. please do not make this difficult for both of us. again, i do not have money left. i will keep the watch and money. He won't get away with his threat, and I have taken appropriate measures to file claims and notify authorities. I hope the SOB ends up in the slammer. Ebay = caveat emptor so be careful! I recognize this is not coin related, but it is related to those of us who buy coins on Ebay.
Good luck in getting any kind of satisfaction, I to have been burned now a days Its so easy to create stealth accounts on both e-bay and pay pal use them a Little and then go for the big score, Seller closes the account under his fake Name and your done ;(
$2025 The seller was so stupid to put his threats/intentions in writing and I have absolutely no worries about being the bagholder here. I have to chuckle at the Ebay/Paypal resolution process, the first step of which is to try to "work it out" with the seller. I will skip that step.
you'll be fine. Most cases a paypal dispute is good enough in this case I would be contacting his local authorities.
Let me get this straight, you bought a watch that didnt fit,and can get a link to compensate for your large wrist.instead your filing a claim for 2k for something that can be resolved on your side, near fathers day? buy a link.you got what you wanted. come on really?? dispute??,negative feedback?? he is just trying to avoid a return.this may have paid his mortgage.saved his life.his marriage. BUY A LINK.
I am pretty sure you will wind up being covered by; However, I would laugh if they could tie you back to this auction and deny your claim.
I don't know, I mean the seller shouldn't have inserted the return terms in if he couldn't afford it. That would be a lot of pennies, oops, I mean cents lost in one transaction! :hail:
THE AUCTION HAD A 3 DAY RETURN RIGHT AND I RETURNED IT THE SAME DAY IT WAS RECEIVED. I MIGHT HAVE CONSIDERED SOME FORM OF RESOLUTION, BUT NOT AFTER I RECEIVED THE NASTYGRAM FROM THE SELLER. I WOULD NOT WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH SUCH A PERSON AND AND DELAYS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN "CATCH 22" --A SELLER ASSERTION THAT THE RETURN PERIOD HAD LAPSED. Sorry, I didn't mean to "shout" but had the caps lock on and don't want to re-type the response.
I call it fraud and dishonesty. I will publicly say that I believe the seller's email is evidence of criminal fraud and embezzlement. Anyone who would try to "work out" a solution with such a slimeball must be into self-flagellation
I was burned once on ebay, currently enduring my second claim process. I lost the first one a couple years ago, I dont know how as the item was never shipped. Seems ebay has changed these days to protect buyers more. So I feel much safer as a buyer and confident to win this current claim. Two times in 10 years aint so bad though.
