I was perusing ebay and came across a questionable "Virginia Halfpenny" up for sale: The guy wants $5K or best offer! He's using metal tweezers to hold the coin! His rim shot shows what appears to me as a seam The usual BS grand-dad story and plausible deniability in the item's description No returns! http://cgi.ebay.com/colonial-virginia-coin-1773-/170498900881?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item27b286c391
this isnt anything new, so I dont know why you would waste your time posting it (no offense intended). Sorry to burst your bubble though seeing something this like is a daily occurance on fleabay.
The photos are poor enough that I can't tell if it is real or not. Even so the opening price is too high even if it is a real coin and a rare variety.
Yeah... tweezers! :rolling: I still think there looks to be a seam around that edge shot. No returns, and what looks to be a "bar cent" too up for sale too... http://cgi.ebay.com/colonial-coin-bar-cent-1785-/180519654600?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2a07cf54c8 Check out the handsome "gold" Kennedy too: http://cgi.ebay.com/replica-rare-revolver-miniature-cap-gun-nice-style-/180522349008?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a07f871d0
