Ridiculous Ebay BIN - VA Halfpenny

I was perusing ebay and came across a questionable "Virginia Halfpenny" up for sale:

• The guy wants $5K or best offer!
• He's using metal tweezers to hold the coin!
• His rim shot shows what appears to me as a seam
• The usual BS grand-dad story and plausible deniability in the item's description
• No returns!

this isnt anything new, so I dont know why you would waste your time posting it (no offense intended). Sorry to burst your bubble though seeing something this like is a daily occurance on fleabay.

 

No, indeed it isn't anything new. But perhaps someone NEW to colonials might come across the post...

 

some of the offenders get booted off eBay. that is why exposing these frauds helps.

 

The photos are poor enough that I can't tell if it is real or not. Even so the opening price is too high even if it is a real coin and a rare variety.

I still think there looks to be a seam around that edge shot. No returns, and what looks to be a "bar cent" too up for sale too...
