Yes, and the 'scum of the earth' will pay his fines through the sale of his stolen material he got away with.
But once he has the conviction on his record that gives show promotors grounds to ban him from their shows. If no one presses charges against him it is hard to ban him from an event that is open to the public.
He could start his operation in another state. Most of the time misdemeanors don't show up in other states. There should be a "book of the banned" like the casinos have. As long as the person has an actual theft conviction they go in the book. Convictions are normally public record so they can't sue for publishing. Maybe I should start a website of coin theives. Sell access to it for $29 a year but waive the fee for each thief turned in. I would require one clean photograph as well as a clean certfied copy of the court conviction.
In my opinion, this guy has a sickness and won't stop stealing until he gets some kind of professional help, which obviously he hasn't done. The few times I confronted him, he was pretty docile, not confrontational, and just wanted to get away. Each time I caught him, he was stealing very inexpensive items, probably so that he could be sure he had enough money to be able to "buy" his way out if he had to, which he tried to do with me, and which I'm sure he has done several times. That's the sad part that I keep hearing from other dealers, that they actually prefer to let the thief buy their way out of going to jail. It does no one any good to perpetuate this practice, not us dealers or our industry, and not the thief himself. What a shame is all I can say.
Good for you, i had some kids shoot air soft pellets at my house and the plaster came off the outside and i pressed charges on him, and i also told the police that i wanted him put in the back of the car and driven to JC. The cop asked me if he wanted me to because he had no proof other than my word so after this kid having that on his record he learned a lesson. Now my house can remain in peace.
Sorry, Im a little confused...you wanted these kids driven to JC...Jesus Christ? I get the jist of what your saying non the less.
I wonder if some of the dealers worry about what it will cost them if they have to return for a court date. Others may worry the bad guy will come after them at a later date. Tough choices. I feel the dealers should stick together and file charges every time but can see why some would disagree.
I don't believe he's a kleptomaniac-- they swipe things compulsively and without regard for what they are stealing-- they are tremendously anxious and gain temporary relief from their anxiety by stealing things. They don't plan ahead. I think he is a low-level sociopath. They are deliberate in what they do, and plan ahead to some extent. Sociopaths are incapable of feeling guilt, remorse or empathy. They have no conscience. They have a need to take risks, and it's all about winning, for them. For this guy, even if he gets caught, and no one presses charges, in his mind he "wins." Charmy probably brought him one of his few losses. This must have really angered him, but being incapable of guilt or remorse, he's right back at it. And he won't stop unless he is literally stopped at the gate. It's hard for me to say he has a sickness, he simply is what he is.
That's true, but dealers and show promoters do tend to talk to each other and the show chairman in the other state would soon learn of the conviction and that would be enough grounds for banning. Eventually he would find himself banned form all coin shows.
